Shavuot / Pentecost / Birth of the Messiah of Israel

Celebration of the re-Birth of a Nation

6 Sivan 5773 / 14-15 May 2013

Today is the celebration of the "Israeli Declaration of Independence," which was signed 65 years ago on 14 May 1948 / 5 Iyar 5708. This year the Hebrew commemoration took place on 5 Iyar 5773 /15 April 2013, and what an absolutely bitter sweet day it was! Not only was that day the 101st Anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, but it was the day when the horrifying Boston Marathon bombings were carried out by those who hate the God of Israel and His people!

Today is also the festival of Shavuot, a Jewish holiday that occurs on the 6th day of the Hebrew month of Sivan (late May or early June), which commemorates the anniversary of when God gave the Torah (the written law) to His people at Mount Sinai, a.k.a Mount Horeb.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-10 "Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the Commandments of the LORD your God which I command you...

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon Him for?

And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life:

But teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons; Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather Me the people together, and I will make them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children."

Today is also the yearly commemoration of the Feast of Pentecost, which is when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon those who were waiting for the LORD, in Jerusalem just as Jesus had directed them.

Acts 2:1-4 "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

The following is from "My View of the Birth of Jesus Christ," which I admit is quite extraordinary and very different than most other views, but I believe that Today on 6 Sivan, Pentecost, 50 Days after Passover when Jesus was crucified by the Roman soldiers under the direction of Pontius Pilate and the religious leaders, is also the anniversary of the very Day when the Son of the Living God was manifest in the flesh! And may God give you the understanding as you prayerfully read it.

Luke 1:26-35 "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call His name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the LORD God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David: And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the Power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

Some say that passage refers to the 6th month of Elizabeth's pregnancy with John, but if you read it just as it is written, and without speculation, that amazing declaration took place during the 6th Jewish month of Elul, and herein is a plausible scenario of Jesus' birth I hope you will consider.

On the 1st of Tishrei--the seventh Jewish month, which occurs in late September or early October, on Rosh Hashanah, the Shofar is blown to signify that an extremely momentous event is about to take place. Ten days later on 10 Tishrei, the Day of Atonement a.k.a. Yom Kippur is commemorated, which is the Highest Holy Day on the Hebrew calendar.

Repentance and forgiveness is the primary focus of this very Special Day, and when the Temple in Jerusalem was still standing, it was the one day of the year that God allowed the High Priest, and only him, to go into the Holy of Holies to make atonement for his sins and the sins of the people.

I believe it was on this VERY Special Day that Jesus, was miraculously conceived by God's Spirit, "within the veil," where no eyes could see, except the "Holy Father." And for those who receive the gift of Eternal Life through God's Son, He IS the only One "by Whom we have now received the Atonement," who God raised from the dead, and "is gone into Heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto Him."

Hebrews 4:14-16 "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the Heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

I Am so amazed at how God ensured that the very Day of Jesus' conception would continue to be highly exalted by His “chosen people,” but it is so sad to watch Jewish folks praying at the Western Wall in Jerusalem (via the internet), knowing that most of them do not even know Jesus Christ, the only One who can truly save their souls. They have yet to believe that Jesus is the True Messiah of Israel, "in Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace," but they will one Day…

The Feast of Tabernacles, a.k.a. Sukkot, is the next Holy Day on the Hebrew calendar which takes place on 15-21 Tishrei, and I Am certain it would have been particularly joyous in Heaven, and among the very "select few" on earth, who knew that the long awaited Messiah was now in the world, albeit a tiny seed.

It is very fitting to celebrate Jesus' arrival into this dark and dying world at this time, and to highlight its importance, God will require all nations to keep the Feast of Tabernacles, or suffer the consequences.

Zechariah 14:16-19 "And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles."

One last stipulation for Jesus' birth to have happened as I Am suggesting, is it had to be a leap year when the 13th Jewish month of Adar II is added to the Hebrew Calendar. Adar is when the Festival of Purim is celebrated, and in leap years certain "traditions" celebrate this Holy Day during Adar II, and others observe it during Adar I, a.k.a. Purim Katan or "Little Purim."

Not only did God tell His "chosen people" to observe these days of Purim, and that "they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor," but according to the Scriptures (Esther 9:27-28), so were "all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days (14 & 15 Adar), according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year; and that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed." (Read the entire book of Esther to know why Purim is to be remembered by all who love the God of Israel.)

The Festival of Purim is a memorial of when God's people "rested from their enemies," and considering that the LORD Jesus was sent to this earth to save us from sin, death, and the Devil, it would have been even more significant for God to send the Saviour of the world at the season when it is celebrated twice.

Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I Am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light."

So, if my calculations are correct, the final waiting period for the coming of the Messiah of Israel would have been during the Counting of the Omer, which "counting" begins the day after the Feast of Passover, and ends fifty days later on 6 Sivan which is the Feast of Pentecost a.k.a. Shavuot.

I believe that it was on the Holiest Day of Pentecost that Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, was born into this world. I have never heard the birth of Christ portrayed in this way, but it fits perfectly! It is even more amazing considering that God gave Moses the Ten Commandments at Mt. Sinai/Horeb on 6 Sivan (3rd Jewish month, May/June timeframe), and it was also during Pentecost that Almighty God sent the Holy Spirit on 6 Sivan, soon after Jesus "ascended up to Heaven in a cloud."

God planned these events before the foundations of the earth were laid, and the divisions surrounding the birth of Christ will no doubt continue, but without controversy, had God's Son never been born, mankind would be without hope, and without God, in this world!

A Word from the Writer of "Walking in the True Light,"

that I hope you will prayerfully consider.

"It’s been said that once you have the knowledge “then” you will be held accountable for what you have heard. But according to the Holy Scriptures if you call yourself a man or woman of God you are “already” accountable for every word that has proceeded from the mouth of God.

His word has been written, His beloved Son lived it out, and those who are true Christians have His Holy Spirit. Thus there will be no excuse for not doing God’s will; yet regretfully many people will perish for lack of knowledge not only because they believed the lies of a man but also because they fell into the trap of the Wicked One.

And in this little book I hope to dispel many of the lies that have been spoken in the name of the LORD Jesus Christ, so as to help you see some of the dangers set before us all.

May the True Light shine upon you as you seek to follow Almighty God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and may you truly have a heart to understand. Howbeit, only he that hath an ear to hear will be able to hear what the Spirit sayeth unto the Churches..."
