Passover Remembrance Message

Posted: 16 Nisan 5777 / 11 April 2017

The following is taken, in part, from a transcript of my voice recording that I recited last night after my family and I celebrated the Passover meal together. My hope in sharing my personal thoughts, and prayer to the Lord, is that it will be an encouragement for others who read it.

My Passover Prayer

Today is 11 April 2017 / 15 Nisan 5777. Tonight is the night of Passover. It is 1:14 AM, and several hours ago (on the evening of 10 April), we celebrated this very wonderful day of Passover…

I would like to read the passage that we read tonight.

1 Corinthians 11:23 "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:

1 Corinthians 11:24 And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me.

1 Corinthians 11:25 After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in My blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me.

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till He come.

1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

1 Corinthians 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

1 Corinthians 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.”

Most Christians do not celebrate Passover. They may mention it, but Passover really is not celebrated in the way that it is in the Scriptures. Jesus had His Passover meal with His disciples, and that night He was arrested in the garden. He was crucified the following day...And three days later, praise God, He was raised from the dead by God’s Spirit.

And for those who will follow Jesus, and believe in Him—first of all, we will be raised from the dead one day too. Just like He was! And that’s our hope. And that is what we hold onto. That is what I believe. And I know it’s true! And I want all of my children, and whosoever I can persuade, to believe it too! And I will know that they truly believe, when I see them live out the truth in their lives.

But as long as people wink at sin, or count it as something that’s not so horrible, then I know that they are not as committed to You as they need to be, dear Lord. I don’t know what it will take to make people get serious about their relationship with You. I don’t really know.

I am very concerned about the state of the churches. I believe many sincere Christians love You. I honestly believe they love You, but I think they’ve listened to a lot of the lies that are out there--that it’s okay to do certain things, and go certain places, and partake of things of this world. And they don’t feel like they will be affected by it.

Anything in this life, as I have always taught my dear children, if it causes you to not have a taste for the things of God, no matter how good or evil it is, if it turns you away from God in the slightest, then there is something wrong with it. If something you do causes you—like eating junk food—if it causes you to not have a taste for good food—that’s what the things of the world will do for you, for those who are willing to do it.

And I am not saying that I am exempt. Because I surely am not! And I ask You Lord, to help me to stay focused. Help me to not get distracted. Because I know I have an enemy out there that wants me to not serve You the way that I should. And I ask You to help those distractions to be disseminated and destroyed.

I want to serve You with my whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. I want to love You with my whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. And I pray for the Day that I get to meet You face to face. But Lord, I want to be unashamed on that Day! And I need You to help me. I look to You Lord, for everything.

And I thank You for allowing us to celebrate this Passover. This is the absolute most important of holy days. Because if You dear Lord God, had not lived, and died for us, we would have no place in Your Kingdom. It is because of what You did on this night, many, many years ago, that has opened the Door for us to enter into Your beautiful Kingdom. And one day we’re going to get to live with You forever. And I look forward to that Day, Lord!

Strengthen me, give me the desire, give me the will to do whatever it takes to keep me on fire for You, Lord!

I pray for my children. I pray for my husband. I pray for my church family. I pray for my pastor, for our youth minister, and our music minister. And all those that truly love You, Lord. May You just work in their lives Lord. Open their eyes and show them where they need to do away with certain things in their lives, to give them the ability to see clearly. Your will be done!

I love You, Lord. I thank You, Lord. And I praise You, forever and ever. Amen!
