Commemoration of the Resurrection Day

3rd Day of
Unlike the prevailing method
of calculating when Easter occurs, which is the first Sunday following the first
full moon after the vernal equinox, as was determined by the bishops at the
First Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church, held in 325 AD, today is the
commemoration of when the Lord Jesus was risen from the grave in accordance with
"Now when Jesus was risen early
the first day of the week He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of
whom He had cast seven devils.
And she went and told them
that had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. And they when they had heard that He
was alive and had been seen of her believed not.
After that He appeared in another
form unto two of them as they walked and went into the country. And they went and told it unto
the residue: neither believed they them.
Afterward He appeared unto the eleven
as they sat at meat and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of
heart because they believed not them which had seen Him after He was risen.
And He said unto them, Go ye into all
the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized
shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them
that believe; In My Name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new
tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if
they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the
sick, and they shall recover.
So then after the LORD had spoken
unto them He was received up into Heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
And they went forth and preached every where the LORD working with them
and confirming the Word with signs following. Amen."
Revelation 19:5-9 "And
a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye His servants, and
ye that fear Him, both small and great.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many
waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord
God omnipotent reigneth.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb
is come, and His wife hath made herself ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and
white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the
marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of
"And without controversy
is the mystery of Godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh,
in the Spirit,
seen of angels,
preached unto the Gentiles,
believed on in the world,
received up into glory."
1 Timothy 3:16
and honour, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth
upon the Throne, and unto the
Lamb for ever and ever. Amen!"
Blessed are they who are called to
And may we be among that number
on that Resurrection Day!
